“It’s our pride that even male members of our families adhere the decisions of our group and our families and community listens to us these days. We are now thinking of its sustainability” said Asha Devi Gharti Chaudhary, Treasurer, Laxmi SHG, Dhakdhai, and Rupandehi, Nepal which was formed with 26 members in 2001 under master plan programme.
”The massive cases of early marriage, dowry system, discrimination between boys and girls even in the families were prevailing in the community, but now due to SAMVAD Kendra situation is improved”, says a member of the group remembering their community status before being united in the group.
“We got succeed to facilitate to punish one of the male person taking him at police office in the case of rebuking and harassment to an women. Then after women of the community and male person started to belief and respects us”- says another group member proudly.
”As we requested with GOs and NGOs to support for IGA, we got training and input support as impact our 9 members are engaged in semi commercial vegetable farming”- says Mala Chaudhary, member of SHG.
“We are in close coordination with Dhakdhai VDC office in support of toilet construction; we hope we will get it this year. Dhakdhai VDC has given public land to us for community building and committed to support for construction also,” says the president of the group.
