Mona Standing up for herself

Mona Standing up for herself

'I couldn't even imagine having a face to face conversation with my parents. I still can't believe that I stood up against my family's decision, I mustered enough courage to say no to my marriage and convinced them', says Mona proudly.
Mona Chaudhary is a girl of 18 and lives in Hakui-1, Sabuni. She had to drop out of school against her will. 'When I heard about Sabuni SAMVAD Kendra I could not stop myself, my thirst for knowledge drove me there', she shares. She feels proud to share the things she has learnt at SK. She says, 'I know about sanitation, child marriage, dowry system, human trafficking, water borne diseases and so many things which I never knew in the past.'
Mona lives with her two sisters, brother and parents. She thanks animator Ritu Pandey without whom she would not have been able to take a stand against her early marriage. She shared her situation with her friends at SAMVAD Kendra. Animator Ritu encouraged her to try and talk to her parents. When Mona’s attempts to convince her parents didn't work Animator Ritu herself came and spoke with the parents.
'There is a way to succeed if you just keep trying', Ritu and Mona affirm together.
