Rima back in School
'We were so scared when we saw Rima attempting suicide hanging by scarf from a fan. Fortunately, we saw and stopped her’ Animator Sayada frightfully shares the bitter encountered at SAMVAD Kendra.
Rima Kahar, 16, is a resident of Hakui VDC, in Sitapur. She was so shy she couldn't speak out when she first joined SAMVAD Kendra. She was different from others. Anyone could see her eyes were full of anxiety, unhappiness and weariness.
‘We urged her to share the reality and Rima revealed how her parents used to discriminate among son and daughter, how she had to quit school when she was in grade 4 and how has she been barely managing time for SAMVAD how she was keeping her feelings suppressed and dissatisfaction which led her to suicide.', the adolescents share with watery eyes.
However Rima having participated at SAMVAD Kendra she has changed a lot. She behaves like any other adolescent girls. She is so happy that she got an opportunity to resume school after skipping a year. SAMVAD has also made drastic changes in her home. ‘I am so happy that these days my parents treat me the way they treat my brothers. They allow me to go to school and allow me to attend SAMVAD discussions’ says Rima.
